Frequently asked questions

Can our funeral service be religious?

Yes. If you would like a religious service, please talk to us – we can put you in touch with officiants from a range of faiths who can conduct the service for you.

What is a celebrant?

A celebrant helps you to plan a unique funeral service that celebrates your loved one's life. They help to structure the ceremony, select music, suggest poetry and write speeches. They can also conduct the service if you want them to.

What happens to the ashes?

This is up to you. Our standard price includes securing the ashes in a wooden urn with engraved nameplate. We’ll let you know when the ashes are available for delivery the week following your service. Alternatively, we can store the ashes for up to 12 months if you’d prefer to wait until you’re ready to receive them.

There are also numerous ways to scatter or inter the ashes at our partner locations for an additional fee. Please ask us if you’d like to learn more about these options.

Are there any hidden charges?

No. The price you see is what you will pay.

I can't afford a funeral, can you help?

The cost of a funeral can be an unanticipated expense at an already difficult time. The government offers a Funeral Expense Payment to help cover costs. We can help you to apply.

When do I have to pay for your services?

Payment should be made within 14 days after the service has taken place.

Can you organise a funeral procession, viewing or visitation?

No, we don’t offer these services.

Do you embalm the deceased?

No, this is not required for cremation and we don’t feel it is respectful to perform this invasive procedure unless absolutely necessary.

Why don’t you offer viewings?

In our experience this can be a distressing experience for families and it is preferable for most people to remember their loved ones as they lived. You can usually organise a viewing at the hospital or coroner’s court, but again for reasons we’ve stated, we would not recommend this.

Why are your services so much cheaper than other funeral directors?

We offer a straightforward service. We don’t have expensive storefronts or fancy limousines - we specialise in providing a high quality service for a fixed price.

What paperwork do I need to arrange a funeral?

We’re able to organise all your paperwork online. We’ll give you a link to an online form that takes roughly 10 minutes to complete. We’ll then arrange all the remaining paperwork for you.

I'm confused by the options, can you help?

Of course, we understand that funeral planning can feel overwhelming. We are very happy to talk you through the options or answer any questions without obligation. Simply call 0800 464 7277 or email us for help.
